Northern expedition – a campaign to unite the country, against the warlords (landlords), each protected by some imperialist power.

Nationalists kill communist workers, 1926 (?). Lesson: union of 2 parties is dangerous.

New Life Movement – Conf. + Fascism, 1930’s

Chinese communism – based on peasants – leads to a version of Bonapartism. Similarly for the USSR, Cuba, etc. In general, this is a law: communist movement based on peasants leads to Bonapartism, a one-man, one-party rule, no democracy.
